2014 #Powder Awards Pack The Depot
There were more than a few bleary-eyed skiers at Alta for the Powder Magazine Morning After Sesh. Athetes and filmmakers had partied like the champs they are at the 15th Annual Powder Awards Friday night at the Depot in downtown Salt Lake City. The sold-out crowd for the longest running skiing awards show in the world arrived to mix, mingle and toast their peers.
“It was an absolutely beautiful evening with the best community in the world…skiers,” said Powder Editor John Stifter.
The evening kicked off with a few Bird Dog Whiskeys & Coke and a whole lot of familiar faces. If you want to know who’s who in the ski industry just attend the Powder Awards. The likes of Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Cody Townsend, Kent Kreitler, Ingrid Backstrom Eric Hjorleifson, Tatum Monod and many more hit the podium.
The ceremonies started with K2 Marketing Manager Mike Powell handing out the awards for the annual readers Powder Poll. Ingrid Backstrom took home her 10th consecutive award for number one female. The late J.P. Auclair won the men’s category. An inspirational tribute to the French mountaineer followed along with speeches from his friends and family.
Snowbird skier Angel Collinson picked up Best Female Performance, and top five for Powder Poll Awards. Cody Townsend cleaned up with a trifecta win for Best Line, Full Throttle, and Best Male Performance. Teton Gravity Research’s Almost Ablaze won their second Movie of the Year award. The event continued with a DJ and more drinking after the awards and then a crack-of-noon posse at Alta on Saturday.
