First-Ever Discounted Ski Pass For Teachers

“I didn’t become a teacher for the kids; I did it for the ski pass,” might soon be the reasoning if we happen to see a swell of new teachers in our schools in the future. That’s because Angel Fire, New Mexico, is making ski-industry history with a sweetheart deal for educators.

Teachers can finally afford to ski! The new ski pass for teachers K-12 will be one of the best full season ski pass deals in the country. The Teacher Pass gives educators nationwide a heavily discounted price for unlimited skiing. Angel Fire wants to thank our teachers for the hard work they do with students and encourage them to take time for themselves.

“We can’t thank teachers enough for the incredible work they do educating children. Their lives are dedicated to work that is often overlooked. We wanted a way to thank them for all they’re doing for our kids by offering them an affordable opportunity to ski or snowboard at our mountain,” Robin May, Ski and Snowboard School Director, Angel Fire Resort, explains.

The Teacher Pass will be valid for the 2018-2019 season. Although, Angel Fire is marketing it as a “first of its kind in the industry” it’s worth noting that Powder Mountain, Utah, Magic Mountain, Vermont, both offer ski passes for teachers and many resorts across the country have discounts on individual day tickets. However, nothing is as smoking as Angel Fire’s $99 deal.

With no blackout dates, teachers will have the flexibility to take their own powder days or ski on holidays. But if you’re a teacher, don’t procrastinate. The Pass special introductory price is only through December 13, 2018, the day before opening day. After that it jumps to $199.

“We pride ourselves on being one of the most family-friendly resorts in the Rockies. Along with focusing on the kids who come to ski our mountains we also want to encourage the passion for the sport of skiing and snowboarding to those who are doing so much for these students,” Ruth Worden, marketing manager, Angel Fire Resort, explains.  Let’s hope the Teacher Pass has a ripple effect and encourages other ski areas to take Angel Fire’s lead. Our kids’ mentors deserve it.

While The Teacher Pass can be purchased online starting May 1, teachers will need to present their ID and a current pay stub from a school anywhere in the country to validate the pass on their first day of use. FYI- The Teacher Pass is not part of The Powder Alliance Pass program.

Do any mountains have college teacher passes ?

    • Alas, no longer. Ikon offers a discount to college students, nurses and military. Epic has deals for military. It sure would be great if they brought back that benefit for teachers.
